Mindset and Motivation
Before you approach any task, activity or experience you need to have a certain mindset and level of motivation that will significantly enhance the possibilities of learning something new. Your level of motivation is a result from your intensity of desire or need, the value you place on the goal and the expectations you place on yourself and your peers. This is why you behave in a certain way.
Mindset* works on the principle of a person having a growth mindset or fixed mindset.
If you have a growth mindset you are motivated to develop your abilities through hardwork and dedication.
In a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a willingness to learn and a resilience that is essential for accomplishing your career development goals.
A person with a fixed mindset will stay with what they have got and do not develop their abilities and talents. They believe their basic qualities, like their intelligence or talent, are simply fixed traits. They spend their time documenting their intelligence or talent instead of developing them. They also believe that talent alone creates success—without effort. I guess it's like having potential, without having the resilience and motivation to fulfill that potential.
*Mindset is a simple idea discovered by world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck in decades of research on achievement and success - your mindset influences your work/life outcomes.
Self Discovery & Self Awareness
We welcome all on our career journeys with the starting point being self discovery and self awareness activities and experiences.
Let me give me you a visual through the Johari Window . The Johari Window model is a simple and useful tool for illustrating and improving self-awareness, and mutual understanding between individuals within a group.
Self discovery: the process of learning about yourself, who you are! So who are you? In general, the term "journey of self-discovery" refers to a travel, pilgrimage or series of events whereby a person attempts to determine how they feel personally, about spiritual issues and priorities, rather than following the opinions of family, friends, neighbourhood or peer pressure. Like "finding oneself".
Self awareness is having a clear perception of your personality, including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation and emotions. Self Awareness allows you to understand other people, how they perceive you, your attitude and your responses to them in the moment.
